Former President Barack Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and former HUD Secretary Ben Carson received the highest net favorability ratings in recent YouGov surveys of political figures.

Among Democratic figures, 58% of respondents viewed Obama “very” or “somewhat” favorably, while 36% expressed an unfavorable view, resulting in a +22-point net favorability—the highest in the poll. Sanders followed with a +12-point margin, supported by 50% favorability and 38% unfavorability. Sanders has recently campaigned alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in conservative-leaning states on a “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

In a separate YouGov poll on Republican figures, Carson earned a +6-point net favorability—the highest among GOP names—with 35% viewing him favorably and 29% unfavorably. Carson, who served under Donald J. Trump, endorsed the former president’s 2024 campaign last year, stating, “President Donald J. Trump is the person to… make America great again.”

The Democratic poll was conducted March 19–22 with 2,285 respondents; the Republican poll occurred March 21–24 with 2,260 respondents. Both have a margin of error of ±2.8%.
