Personnel Policy Operations (PPO), a nonprofit aligned with former President Trump, paid $100,000 in legal fees for six Nevada electors who falsely claimed Trump won the state in the 2020 election. The case was dismissed due to improper venue filing by the Nevada attorney general’s office.
PPO, described as a hub for “America First patriots,” aims to support conservative civil servants and their advisors. Its mission aligns with the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. PPO President Troup Hemenway, a former Trump White House official, confirmed the group directly paid the legal fees.
The financial aid came from PPO’s Courage Under Fire Legal Defense Fund, which has also supported Trump allies like John Eastman and Jeffrey Clark. The six electors—Durand James Hindle III, Michael McDonald, Jesse Law, Jim DeGraffenreid, Shawn Meehan, and Eileen Rice—faced felony charges for offering false instruments and forging documents, with penalties up to five years in prison.
Despite the case’s dismissal, the Nevada attorney general’s office plans to appeal. This is the first case against pro-Trump electors to be thrown out, with similar charges pending in Michigan, Georgia, and Arizona. Trump, facing related charges, has pleaded not guilty.
