At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy emerged as the top preferences for former President Donald Trump’s vice-presidential running mate for the 2024 election, each securing 15% of the vote. The CPAC straw poll, which reflects the opinions of conservative grassroots activists, highlighted Noem and Ramaswamy as leading candidates amidst speculation on Trump’s potential VP pick.

Trump, who maintains a strong lead in the GOP race, has previously acknowledged the credibility of the candidates on his rumored shortlist, describing them as “all solid.” The poll also saw notable figures such as former Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard with 9%, House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik and Senator Tim Scott at 8%, and Representative Byron Donalds at 7%.

Other mentioned potential VP candidates included Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, each receiving 5% of the vote. Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson, independent presidential candidate Robert K. Kennedy Jr., Senator JD Vance, and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley garnered less than 5%.
