Hochul called for Congressional action, advocating for the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act to empower states with better tools to address similar incidents. The announcement came after drone activity disrupted operations at Stewart Airfield, causing a temporary runway shutdown. A Department of Homeland Security official reiterated that the sightings are likely manned aircraft, with no confirmed threats identified.
