New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Wednesday that the state is launching an online portal for residents to upload photos and videos of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents operating in New York. The move follows a high-profile federal immigration raid on Manhattan’s Canal Street that sparked protests earlier this week.

“We’re launching a portal to review federal immigration enforcement in New York after yesterday’s ICE raid on Canal Street,” James said on X. “New Yorkers who were present should submit videos or photos, and we will review and investigate any violations of the law.”

The initiative comes amid growing scrutiny of federal immigration enforcement in Democratic-led cities. James’s office said the portal will help identify potential civil rights violations during ICE operations statewide.

Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized the move, saying such efforts “undermine law enforcement” and could increase threats against officers.

House Democrats on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced a similar tracker this week to collect citizen reports of ICE-related incidents nationwide.

The Canal Street raid saw dozens of federal agents detain street vendors accused of selling counterfeit goods, sparking clashes with protesters and condemnation from local officials.
