A grassroots movement opposing President Donald Trump’s early policies is gaining momentum online, with nationwide protests scheduled for Wednesday. Using hashtags #buildtheresistance and #50501—signifying 50 protests in 50 states on one day—organizers are planning demonstrations primarily at state capitols and other key locations.

Activists are rallying against Project 2025, a conservative policy blueprint, with slogans like “reject fascism” and “defend our democracy.” In Michigan, organizers gathered near the state Capitol to prepare protest signs reading “No Deportations Ever!” and “Workers Unite!”

Kelsey Brianne, a Michigan organizer, described the effort as “real grassroots,” saying, “I want to look back at this time and say that I did something.”

Protests have already erupted, including a major demonstration in Southern California on Sunday against Trump’s deportation policies, which shut down a freeway for hours.
