Nearly 100 former national security officials urged the Senate to scrutinize Tulsi Gabbard, President-elect Trump’s pick for Director of National Intelligence (DNI), citing her lack of experience, controversial remarks, and meeting with Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
The officials criticized her past skepticism of U.S. intelligence on Syria and claims about U.S.-funded labs in Ukraine, suggesting these views undermine trust with allies and her ability to deliver impartial briefings. They labeled her the “least experienced” DNI nominee and called for a closed Senate session to review classified concerns.
Trump’s team dismissed the criticism as politically motivated, while Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) defended Gabbard as a veteran opposing unnecessary wars and government overreach.
