Elon Musk expressed shock Tuesday over escalating attacks on Tesla facilities, linking them to his role in President Donald Trump’s administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“It’s really come as quite a shock to me that there’s this level of hatred and violence from the Left,” Musk said on Fox News’s Hannity. “Tesla is a peaceful company. We’ve never done anything harmful.”
The most recent attack occurred Tuesday morning when a suspect firebombed a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas with Molotov cocktails and fired bullets into vehicles. The FBI’s joint terrorism task force is investigating.
Musk suggested the violence was a sign that his reforms were working. “The reason we are seeing this extreme amount of hatred and violence is because we are actually succeeding in getting rid of corruption and waste,” he said.
President Trump defended Musk, calling him a “patriot” and blaming “highly political people on the Left” for the attacks.
Authorities are investigating whether the attacks are politically motivated.
