Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate, voiced confidence that women voters would deliver a strong statement to former President Donald Trump on Election Day. Speaking at a campaign event in Arizona, Walz said he believes women across party lines will “send a loud and clear message to Donald Trump” on November 5. The crowd responded enthusiastically, chanting “vote.”
Walz’s comments followed recent remarks from Trump, who told a rally in Wisconsin that he considers himself a “protector” of women, despite advisors warning him against using that language. Trump said he would continue to use the term “whether the women like it or not,” citing his commitment to protect against threats such as illegal immigration and foreign adversaries.
Vice President Harris criticized Trump’s comments, calling them “offensive” and dismissive of women’s autonomy and decision-making power. “This is just the latest in a series of reveals by the former president on how he thinks about women and their agency,” she stated.
Polling data suggests Trump faces challenges in securing support from women voters, though he has maintained stronger support among male voters, highlighting a significant gender divide in the race.
