Federal officials are investigating a mass shooting at a Minneapolis church Wednesday that left two children dead and 17 others injured, including 14 children.

Authorities said the suspected shooter, identified as Robin Westman, 23, opened fire at Annunciation Church as students attended morning Mass. Police reported Westman fired through a window before entering the sanctuary with three firearms. Westman died by suicide at the scene.

A manifesto and video posted online shortly before the attack displayed messages scrawled on rifle magazines, including “Kill Donald Trump,” “For the Children,” and “Where is your God.” The video was later removed from YouTube. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called the attack “unthinkable,” adding, “We mourn with them, we pray for healing, and we will never forget them.”

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the shooting is being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime targeting Catholics. He said Westman, who identified as transgender, “targeted our most vulnerable: young children praying in their first morning Mass of the school year.”

President Trump, who survived a July 2024 assassination attempt, has not commented on the shooter’s threats. The White House ordered flags lowered to half-staff to honor the victims. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called the crime “an assault on children, families, and faith.”
