Meta, Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, has donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund, following a recent meeting between CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Meta confirmed the donation, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Stephen Miller, Trump’s incoming deputy chief of staff, said the donation reflects Meta’s support for Trump’s economic agenda. The move follows efforts by Zuckerberg to improve Meta’s standing with conservatives after a strained relationship during Trump’s first term. Trump was banned from Facebook after the Capitol attack but reinstated in 2023.
Meta’s donation is its first to a presidential inaugural. Other corporations, including Google and Microsoft, have historically contributed to inaugurations for both parties.
