Erik and Lyle Menendez, serving life without parole for the 1989 murders of their parents, will face further delays as their resentencing hearing is rescheduled for March 20-21. Originally set for Jan. 30, the hearing was postponed due to recent wildfires in Los Angeles, which disrupted necessary preparations.
The brothers, convicted of killing Jose and Kitty Menendez in their Beverly Hills home, have spent nearly 35 years in prison. While their guilt is undisputed, they claim long-term sexual abuse by their father, allegations excluded during their trial.
Shifting public opinion and new evidence have prompted calls for leniency, with former DA George Gascón supporting resentencing. However, current DA Nathan Hochman has not taken a clear stance. A virtual hearing in March will determine the brothers’ legal future.
