McDonald’s hosted former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania restaurant over the weekend, where he worked the fry station and answered questions through the drive-thru window. While the event generated buzz, McDonald’s emphasized that it does not endorse political candidates. The company stated, “We are not red or blue – we are golden,” in a message to employees obtained by The Associated Press.
The visit was arranged after franchise owner Derek Giacomantonio learned of Trump’s interest in stopping by. Business ethics professor Bruce Newman added that the appearance likely helped Trump portray a more casual image in his campaign.
