Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has warned that Democrats may eliminate the Senate filibuster if they gain control of Congress and the White House in the upcoming election, allowing them to pass abortion rights legislation. McConnell condemned the idea, calling it “short-sighted radicalism” and a move that would harm future governance.

His comments followed Vice President Kamala Harris’ statement supporting the removal of the filibuster to protect reproductive rights, arguing it’s necessary to restore protections for abortion access with a simple majority vote.
