McCarthy’s allegations emerged during a CBS News interview, where he differentiated Gaetz’s actions from those of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent motion against the current Speaker, suggesting Gaetz’s motivations were personal and unlawful. McCarthy contends that Gaetz attempted to halt an ethics committee probe into allegations of misconduct against Gaetz, which includes charges of sexual misconduct and other infractions, though Gaetz denies these accusations.
Gaetz’s office has not commented on these latest claims.
