WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said Sunday that Attorney General Pam Bondi avoided eye contact with Jeffrey Epstein survivors during a recent House Judiciary Committee hearing because she was “afraid to.”
Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Massie described Bondi’s conduct as “kind of cold,” adding that survivors want access to investigative documents and prosecutions tied to individuals they implicated. “This Epstein Files Transparency Act was about getting these survivors justice,” Massie said.
Bondi testified before the House panel last week, fielding questions on immigration enforcement, investigations involving President Donald Trump’s political adversaries, and the handling of Epstein-related records. Lawmakers pressed her on why additional documents, including certain FBI 302 interview forms, have not been released.
During the hearing, Bondi deflected criticism by pointing to prior administrations, including former Attorney General Merrick Garland. Massie countered that the alleged lack of transparency spans multiple administrations.
On Sunday, Massie said Garland “performed better” during his tenure in terms of demeanor, though he maintained disagreements with him politically. Massie added he does not have confidence in Bondi’s leadership on the issue, arguing that as attorney general, she bears responsibility for document production decisions.
