Washington, DC — Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky pushed back Saturday against critics and a well-funded super PAC targeting him ahead of the midterm elections, insisting that his push for the release of records tied to Jeffrey Epstein was justified and “not a hoax.”

In a post on the social platform X, Massie said he is being attacked for helping lead a bipartisan effort to force disclosure of federal files related to Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender. “It was not a hoax, I cannot be bullied, I am not done,” Massie wrote, arguing that powerful interests are trying to defeat him politically because of his role in advancing transparency.

Massie pointed to the super PAC “MAGA KY,” which disclosed raising $2 million in a recent Federal Election Commission filing. The group’s top donors include hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer and investor John Paulson. Massie claimed Paulson appeared in Epstein’s contact book and alleged that major donors rapidly funded attack ads against him following the latest document release.

Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act last year, directing the Justice Department to release records related to its Epstein investigation while protecting victim privacy. On Friday, the department released an additional 3 million pages, well after the statutory deadline. Attorney General Pam Bondi has cited the scale of the material as the reason for delays.

Massie is facing a primary challenge from Trump-endorsed candidate Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Massie, calling him a “Third Rate Congressman,” while Massie says his opposition to foreign aid, deficits, and what he calls unnecessary wars has made him a target.
