WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) dismissed reports Wednesday that she plans to run for president in 2028, calling them “baseless rumors” and reaffirming her focus on representing Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. Speaking to NewsNation, Greene said she blocked the reporter who published the speculation and denied claims she is on a “revenge tour.”
The reports followed comments from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who claimed during a livestream that President Donald Trump stopped Greene from running for Senate. Greene rejected that, saying she views the Senate as “where all good things go to die.”
The Georgia congresswoman also criticized Republican leadership for failing to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, saying some constituents face insurance premiums rising from $800 to $3,200 a month. She said she “yelled” at House Speaker Mike Johnson on a conference call and blamed him for the ongoing government shutdown.
Greene added that voters’ frustration over unfulfilled “America First” promises explains Republican underperformance in recent elections. She urged Trump to broker talks between Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to reopen the government.
