Comedian Bill Maher called for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to resign during the Friday episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Maher described Kennedy as “nutty” following the removal of top advisers and CDC Director Susan Monarez.

Criticism of Kennedy’s leadership intensified after his Thursday Senate Finance Committee testimony, where he avoided questions about COVID-19 deaths and made false claims about vaccine access. Kennedy’s nephew, former Rep. Joe Kennedy III, said his uncle used the hearing to “dismiss science, mislead the public, sideline experts and sow confusion.” He added, “Robert Kennedy Jr. is a threat to the health and well-being of every American.”

Kennedy’s sister, Kerry Kennedy, also urged him to resign, stating, “Medical decisions belong in the hands of trained and licensed professionals, not incompetent and misguided leadership.” She warned that weakening institutions like the NIH and CDC “will lead to the loss of innocent lives.”

Maher said he was initially “sympathetic” to Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again Agenda” but concluded, “He’s just too nutty. He just does not listen.” He added, “The knives are out for Bobby Kennedy, and I gotta say, I’m with the knives.”

Despite concerns, President Trump expressed support for Kennedy’s differing views on health and vaccines.
