London’s High Court has rejected Donald Trump’s lawsuit against Orbis Business Intelligence, the company behind the Steele dossier, which alleged connections between Trump’s 2016 election campaign and Russia. Judge Karen Steyn stated that Trump’s data protection lawsuit, aimed at disputing derogatory claims made in the dossier authored by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, lacked compelling reasons for continuation.

Trump, the leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, had argued that the dossier’s allegations, including those of misconduct in Russia, were false. Despite Trump’s assertions of falsehoods, Steyn emphasized her decision did not address the veracity of these claims.

Orbis defended its position by suggesting Trump’s lawsuit was more about settling scores with Steele rather than addressing legal grievances. Steyn concluded Trump had no reasonable basis for seeking compensation or damages.

This dismissal adds to the array of legal challenges Trump faces, with four criminal prosecutions underway in the U.S. Trump’s campaign vowed to persist in fighting against what they describe as falsehoods, while Orbis has yet to comment on the ruling.
