The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is ending parole protections for nearly one million migrants who entered the U.S. using the CBP One app during the Biden administration.

About 985,000 individuals scheduled entry appointments at ports of entry via the app, receiving parole status and often work authorization. The Trump administration, through DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, said it has legal authority to revoke that status.

“The Biden Administration abused the parole authority to allow millions of illegal aliens into the U.S.,” DHS said. “Canceling these paroles is a promise kept to secure our borders.”

Migrants impacted will receive email notices directing them to self-deport using the rebranded CBP Home app. Those under the Uniting for Ukraine and Operation Allies Welcome programs are not affected.

More than 500,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans will lose their parole on April 24 after previously entering with U.S.-based sponsors.

Trump suspended the CBP One app on his first day in office, affecting thousands with scheduled appointments into February.
