A federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in Pennsylvania accuses Elon Musk and his America PAC of failing to fully pay a suburban Philadelphia resident over $20,000 for petition referrals ahead of the 2024 election.
The anonymous plaintiff, identified as “John Doe” from Bucks County, claims he was paid hourly for canvassing but not compensated for voter petition referrals as promised. America PAC had pledged $100 per signed petition and $100 per referral. The suit, seeking class-action status, alleges others also haven’t been paid.
“There’s been a lot of concern from people who were not paid,” said the plaintiff’s attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan. Musk’s PAC said it’s paid “tens of millions” and is committed to weeding out fraud. The group claims some payments are delayed due to mismatched information.
The lawsuit accuses Musk, America PAC, and Group America LLC of contract breach and violating Pennsylvania wage laws. It follows a similar legal challenge last year by Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner, which a judge dismissed.
