WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) said Sunday that President Donald Trump is “losing his MAGA base” as controversy grows over the administration’s handling of documents linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Khanna argued that Trump has failed to uphold the populist promises that defined his original campaign.

“The reason he’s losing it is he ran saying, ‘There’s a corrupt governing elite that has shafted you,’” Khanna told host Kristen Welker. “He’s forgotten those forgotten Americans. We’re standing up for survivors, for America’s kids, and we’re going to hold this class accountable.”

Khanna, along with Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), has spearheaded a bipartisan effort to force a House vote on the release of all Epstein-related Department of Justice files. The discharge petition to bring the measure forward reached the necessary number of signatures this week, with every Democrat and four Republicans signing on.

Representative Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) became the final signer after being sworn in Wednesday, solidifying the petition’s success.

Khanna urged Trump to meet with Epstein survivors and support full transparency. “It’s not about Donald Trump,” he said. “There are a lot of other people who are involved who have to be held accountable.”
