Kari Lake, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate and supporter of former President Donald Trump, has urged her supporters in Arizona to “strap on a Glock” as they prepare for the upcoming elections on November 5. Lake made these remarks at a rally in Arizona.
Lake, a former local news anchor, is seeking the Republican nomination to replace retiring U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema. The outcome of this race could be pivotal in determining whether Democrats maintain their slim 51-49 Senate majority.
Lake’s comments were made a day before Trump’s trial in New York began over criminal charges related to alleged hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump has pleaded not guilty to these charges.
Lake warned her supporters that Trump was facing “lawfare,” a term referring to the strategic use of legal proceedings to intimidate and hinder a candidate. She emphasized that the next six months would be challenging and stated that Trump is “willing to continue to fight for us.”
Trump is currently facing multiple criminal cases, including charges related to his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Biden based on false claims of widespread election fraud. Trump’s supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an attempt to prevent the certification of Biden’s election.
