Vice President Kamala Harris faced tough questioning during her first interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier on Wednesday, with immigration policy taking center stage. In a nearly 30-minute exchange, Harris pushed back on Baier’s questions about her shifting positions and the Biden administration’s handling of the U.S. border. The interview, part of Harris’ outreach to GOP-leaning voters, became heated as they often talked over each other, especially on immigration, President Biden’s mental fitness, and transgender prisoners.
When Baier pressed Harris on whether the families of murder victims killed by undocumented migrants were owed an apology, Harris expressed sorrow for their losses but emphasized the administration’s efforts on immigration reform. She also clarified her stance on border crossings, stating, “I do not believe in decriminalizing border crossings,” marking a departure from her 2019 position.
Harris also defended Biden’s leadership but distanced herself by stating her presidency would “not be a continuation” of Biden’s, positioning herself as bringing fresh ideas.
