Trump, at the National Association of Black Journalists meeting, questioned Harris’s racial identity, saying, “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago… Is she Indian or is she Black?”

Harris, the first Black and Asian American vice president, responded by highlighting Trump’s divisiveness and disrespect. She stressed that the American people deserve a leader who tells the truth and does not react with hostility.

Harris, daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, attended Howard University and pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha, a historically Black sorority. She urged Sigma Gamma Rho members to register voters and emphasized the power of the organization.

The Divine Nine, which includes Sigma Gamma Rho, is known for its public service and influence in politics, business, and media. Harris has attended several of their events recently, reinforcing these connections.
