With polls tightening in key swing states, Vice President Kamala Harris is ramping up her attacks on former President Donald Trump as the campaign nears its conclusion. Democratic strategists say Harris will emphasize Trump’s threat to democracy, drawing comparisons to the successful 2022 midterms strategy, where Democrats highlighted issues like abortion and the dangers of Trump’s rhetoric.
Harris, who has focused much of her campaign on introducing herself to voters, is now pivoting to a sharper critique of Trump. She recently condemned Trump’s comment referring to the January 6th insurrection as a “day of love” and his statement suggesting military intervention against “enemies from within” on Election Day. Harris argued that Trump’s return to power would be dangerous, highlighting his willingness to target journalists, election officials, and judges.
A new ad from Harris’s campaign, titled “Enemy Within,” amplifies these critiques, featuring former Trump officials warning about the risks of unchecked power. Harris aims to solidify her base while appealing to moderates and Republicans disillusioned with Trump.
