Vice President Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) attracted an average of 28.9 million viewers, surpassing former President Donald Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC) by about 500,000 viewers, according to Nielsen ratings.

Over the four nights, the DNC averaged 21.8 million viewers, outpacing the RNC’s 18.9 million viewers by 3 million. Notably, the DNC’s audience was stronger in the 18-54 demographic, drawing 6.7 million viewers on the convention’s final night.

MSNBC saw record-breaking viewership during Harris’ speech, averaging over 7.2 million viewers, while CNN attracted 3.9 million viewers. In comparison, Fox News led the RNC coverage, with 10 million viewers during Trump’s speech, which garnered 28.4 million viewers across all networks.

Despite the increased viewership over the RNC, this year’s DNC saw fewer viewers compared to previous years, with an average of 200,000 more viewers than in 2020 but 8.2 million less than in 2016.
