The campaign announced on Sunday that 66% of the donations come from first-time contributors in the 2024 election cycle, following President Joe Biden’s exit from the race and endorsement of Harris.
Over 170,000 volunteers have also signed up to support Harris’ campaign with various efforts. With Election Day 100 days away, campaign communications director Michael Tyler emphasized the close nature of the race and its dependency on key states.
Harris campaigned in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday, drawing hundreds to a fundraiser initially expected to raise $400,000 but ultimately bringing in about $1.4 million.
Following Biden’s exit, Harris quickly garnered Democratic support, receiving endorsements from key figures such as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Jim Clyburn, Bill Clinton, and Hillary Clinton. Barack and Michelle Obama also endorsed Harris on Friday.
Despite her current fundraising success, Harris described herself as the “underdog” in the race. Future Forward, a leading Democratic super PAC, secured $150 million in commitments within 24 hours of Harris becoming the likely nominee. Democratic House and Senate candidates have also reported increased support since Harris’ nomination.
