Georgia Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee dismissed three counts in the election interference case against Donald Trump and others. Two of these counts were against Trump, and the judge determined that they fall outside of Georgia’s jurisdiction. This ruling stems from motions filed by defendants Shawn Still and John Eastman, whose cases are not on hold due to an ongoing appeal.

The charges dismissed include the filing of a false document with the federal court and conspiracy to file false documents. Judge McAfee argued that punishing someone for submitting certain documents to a federal court could hinder the federal court’s ability to manage its own proceedings. He also dismissed a charge against Trump and Eastman, which alleged they knowingly filed a lawsuit with false statements.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s office is reviewing the decision, while attorneys for Trump and Eastman welcomed the ruling. Despite these dismissals, 32 counts remain, including a racketeering charge.
