A federal judge dismissed all proceedings against Hunter Biden on Tuesday after President Joe Biden issued a full pardon. U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika cited the clemency grant in her order, bringing an end to the case.

Hunter Biden, 54, was convicted in June of lying on a 2018 gun purchase form about his drug use and unlawfully possessing a Colt Cobra revolver for 11 days. The case marked the first criminal conviction of a sitting president’s child.

Special Counsel David Weiss rejected claims of political bias, calling them “nonsensical” and affirming the indictment’s validity.

The trial highlighted Hunter Biden’s struggles with addiction, worsened by his brother Beau Biden’s death in 2015. Before the pardon, Biden faced up to 25 years in prison, though federal guidelines suggested a 15- to 21-month sentence.
