Outgoing Senator Joe Manchin (I-W.V.) criticized the Democratic Party as “toxic” and argued the U.S. is “not going left” in an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju.
Manchin, who left the Democratic Party earlier this year to register as an independent, said he no longer identifies with what the party has become. “They have basically expanded upon thinking, ‘We’re going to tell you how you should live your life,’” he stated.
The centrist also criticized progressive Democrats, saying they are out of touch with the values of most Americans.
