Democratic strategist James Carville predicted Sunday that the Trump administration is “collapsing” and will start losing public support within a month.
In an interview with Mediaite’s Dan Abrams, Carville urged Democrats to “play possum” while the administration faces what he called a “massive collapse,” particularly in public opinion. “I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days, is in the midst of a massive collapse,” Carville said.
He claimed President Donald Trump’s approval rating had dropped nearly 15 points—from 53% to 39%—though those figures could not be verified. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll showed only a slight dip, from 47% to 44%.
Carville also criticized Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and progressive Democrats for being “worse than useless,” arguing they should remain quiet and let the administration falter on its own.
Looking ahead, Carville suggested House Democrats may play a key role in blocking the GOP’s budget resolution, which faces a razor-thin margin in Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) chamber.
