CNN anchor Jake Tapper criticized pro-Palestinian protesters for targeting his colleague Dana Bash, calling the incident “antisemitism.” The harassment occurred at an event in Washington where Bash was promoting her book America’s Deadliest Election. A protester interrupted, accusing Bash of complicity in genocide and labeling her “a killer.”
Tapper defended Bash, stating that her coverage of the Israel-Hamas conflict is consistent with other journalists and that she was targeted solely for being Jewish. Bash remained composed during the protest.
The protests come amid heightened tensions over the Israel-Hamas war, which began after Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel. Bash has previously criticized the rhetoric of pro-Palestinian protesters, particularly on college campuses, for making Jewish students feel unsafe.
