Emails sent in late June and early July to individuals associated with the Biden campaign included excerpts from non-public Trump campaign material. The Biden-Harris campaign condemned the cyberattack, stating they had no knowledge of the emails, which resembled phishing attempts sent to personal accounts.

House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner echoed these concerns, while Rep. Jim Himes noted Trump’s prior call for Russian interference in the 2016 election, suggesting he should refrain from commenting.

Iran denied involvement in the hack, while U.S. intelligence warned that Iran continues to share stolen Trump campaign data with media outlets. Iran, Russia, and China have all been identified as conducting influence operations aimed at sowing discord in the U.S.
