Iran has warned of a decisive response to any U.S. attack following President Joe Biden’s implication of Tehran in the recent killing of three U.S. soldiers in Jordan. This threat escalates tensions in a region already destabilized by the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict and various military engagements across the Middle East.
The U.S. is reportedly preparing for retaliatory strikes after a drone attack in Jordan, which killed three soldiers and wounded at least 40 at Tower 22, a key base for U.S. operations in Syria. Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s U.N. ambassador, emphasized Iran’s readiness to respond strongly to any attacks on its territory or interests. Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Gen. Hossein Salami echoed this stance, asserting Iran’s preparedness for conflict despite not seeking war.
Meanwhile, Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, continue their assaults in the Red Sea, including a recent missile attack on a U.S. warship. The European Union is planning a naval mission in the Red Sea to protect shipping routes from Houthi attacks.
