Iran launched an attack on the Al Udeid U.S. Air Force base in Qatar following Donald Trump‘s strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites. According to Iranian state TV and a U.S. official speaking to The Hill, Iran fired ten missiles near the U.S. base outside Doha.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that its air defenses intercepted the missiles, calling the act a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and international law. Qatar also closed its airspace prior to the strike, citing safety concerns.
The U.S. Embassy in Qatar advised American citizens to shelter in place. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is monitoring the situation closely, with Trump expected to meet his national security team.
Neighboring Bahrain also sounded air raid sirens and urged calm. The Gulf kingdom, which hosts the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, confirmed that residents should seek shelter.
Israel continued strikes inside Iran as tensions escalate across the region.
