U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has launched a mass deportation effort under President Donald Trump, arresting more than 460 undocumented immigrants nationwide this week. The operation targeted individuals with criminal or gang-related backgrounds, spanning cities from California to New York, Florida, and Minnesota.
In Boston, ICE officers arrested eight individuals, including MS-13 gang members, murder and rape suspects, and one person on Interpol’s wanted list. “Today, we removed several significant public safety threats,” said Patricia Hyde, acting field office director for ICE in Boston.
Arrestees hailed from 14 countries, including Afghanistan, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, according to Fox News. While some were direct targets, others were “collateral arrests” discovered during unrelated operations.
Trump’s administration has expanded ICE’s scope, promising large-scale deportations. The agency clarified it is not conducting mass raids but executing arrests on a case-by-case basis.
