WASHINGTON, D.C. — Newly released emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate show the disgraced financier’s alleged decade-long fixation on former friend and now-President Donald Trump, including claims Trump “spent hours” with trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre and Epstein’s boasts that he could “take him down.” The House Oversight Committee made the files public this week as part of a broader congressional review of Epstein’s communications.
According to CNN’s review, Epstein repeatedly mentioned Trump from 2011 through 2019, describing him in harsh terms such as “crazy,” “dangerous,” and “evil beyond belief.” In a 2018 exchange, Epstein wrote that Trump “feels alone and is nuts,” while in another message he said he was “the one able to take him down.” The White House strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling the emails “proof of nothing.”
Trump, who has long downplayed his ties to Epstein, urged Attorney General Pam Bondi, the DOJ, and FBI to investigate Epstein’s relationships with figures including Bill Clinton and Larry Summers. Epstein and Trump were once close in the 1990s before a 2004 fallout reportedly tied to a Palm Beach property dispute.
A House vote next week could determine whether all Epstein-related documents are made public.
