Hunter Biden said in a new interview that Democrats lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump because they failed to stay loyal to his father, former President Joe Biden. “We lost the election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party,” he said in an upcoming episode of Jaime Harrison’s podcast At Our Table.
The interview marks a rare public appearance for Hunter Biden since the November election, which ended in a Trump victory and Vice President Harris losing the general election. Joe Biden, who initially sought re-election, withdrew after a widely criticized debate performance and endorsed Harris as his successor.
Hunter also addressed the party’s disarray, saying, “We better as hell get behind that nominee,” referencing Democrats’ internal divisions. His comments come amid continued scrutiny of the Biden family following President Biden’s end-of-term pardon of Hunter over charges related to drug use, firearms, and taxes.
The interview adds to the ongoing post-election reflection among Democrats, some of whom argue Biden should have exited the race earlier—an issue that stirred tensions within the party and his family, including former First Lady Jill Biden.
