Hundreds of flights throughout the country have been delayed after a computer outage occurred at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Wednesday.

The FAA issued an advisory just after 4 a.m. Eastern Standard Time saying that technicians were working to address the problem. The FAA said at 6:30 a.m. that it was performing its final validation checks and reloading the system.

The flight-tracking website FlightAware recorded that more than 1,200 flights within, into or out of the United States were delayed as of just past 7 a.m., but only about 100 flights had been canceled.
