Washington, D.C. — A nonprofit closely tied to House Democratic leadership quietly gave $2.5 million last year to an advocacy group that benefited from funding linked to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, according to newly released tax records.
The donation came from House Majority Forward, the nonprofit arm associated with House Majority PAC, Democrats’ main super PAC. The group, which operates as a dark money vehicle, transferred the funds to 314 Action, an organization that says it supports science- and STEM-focused Democratic candidates. The contribution marked the first time House Majority Forward had funded 314 Action.
In 2024, 314 Action significantly increased its political spending during competitive Democratic primaries in Oregon. That surge closely followed a $1 million donation from United Democracy Project, a super PAC affiliated with AIPAC. The timing raised concerns among progressive critics, particularly because the spending supported candidates seen as more aligned with pro-Israel lobbying priorities.
At the time, 314 Action disputed reporting that highlighted the AIPAC connection, pointing to filings that did not yet disclose the contribution. However, later Federal Election Commission disclosures confirmed the UDP donation, which was received weeks before the primary but not made public until after votes were cast.
Financial records show 314 Action’s revenue more than doubled in 2024, exceeding $6.3 million. The group later transferred roughly $2 million to its own super PAC ahead of the general election. Critics argue the episode underscores how opaque funding channels can mask the influence of powerful foreign policy lobbying interests within Democratic primaries, complicating claims of grassroots-driven party politics.
