Tom Homan, President Trump’s border czar, defended the administration’s decision to allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to operate in schools, churches, and other previously protected “sensitive locations.”
Appearing on ABC’s This Week, Homan responded to host Martha Raddatz, who questioned the move, asking, “What criminals are hiding in schools? Middle schools, elementary schools?” Homan justified the policy, citing cases involving MS-13 gang members aged 14 to 17.
The policy change, which rescinds prior guidelines restricting ICE arrests in sensitive areas, has led to arrests in various communities. Homan emphasized that operations are conducted with planning and supervisory oversight.
Homan also addressed the high cost of mass deportations, urging Congress to allocate funding to support the administration’s efforts.
