Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday rejected claims that he ordered a makeup studio to be created at the Pentagon, calling the story “totally fake” in a post on X. “No ‘orders’ and no ‘makeup’ — but whatever,” he wrote in response to a CBS News report that alleged he had requested the upgrade near the Pentagon press room.

The Defense Department acknowledged the green room had been modified, including the addition of a director’s chair, makeup light, mirror, and a new countertop. Officials told The Hill the upgrades were made using existing materials and designed to provide media support for the secretary and other VIPs in a cost-conscious manner.

Hegseth, a former television host, also took a swipe at media coverage, writing that “tampon machines” in Pentagon men’s bathrooms might have received better press from “leftist ‘news’ media.”

The denial comes as Hegseth continues to face backlash over his use of Signal to share sensitive military information in private chats, some of which included his wife and brother.
