Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has converted a green room at the Pentagon into a makeup studio for high-ranking officials to use before televised appearances, the Defense Department confirmed Wednesday. The modifications included a director’s chair, lighted mirror, and countertop, constructed using on-hand materials by Pentagon facilities staff.
While CBS News reported the upgrade cost several thousand dollars, the Pentagon disputed that figure and emphasized the effort was cost-conscious. “We were deliberately conservative,” a spokesperson said. “The changes provide the Secretary and VIPs the needed support and space for press engagements.”
The renovation comes as Hegseth faces calls for resignation following revelations that he used Signal, an encrypted messaging app, to share sensitive military information. One incident included a journalist accidentally added to a group chat discussing U.S. airstrikes.
Hegseth, a former Fox & Friends Weekend co-host, has seen several top aides exit or be reassigned during an internal probe into information leaks. Despite criticism from Democrats, support from Trump allies has remained firm.
