The debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump attracted an estimated 67.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen. This marked an increase from the June debate between Trump and President Biden, which had 51.3 million viewers. The event aired on ABC and was simulcast across 17 networks.
Viewers aged 55 and older made up the largest demographic, with over 41.3 million tuning in. However, the debate didn’t surpass the record 84 million viewership from Trump’s 2016 debate with Hillary Clinton. Harris was praised for her sharp critiques of Trump, while his performance raised concerns among allies due to its focus on conspiracy theories.
