Vice President Harris leads former President Trump by 13 points among women voters, according to a recent Economist/YouGov poll. The poll shows 51 percent of registered female voters support Harris, while 38 percent back Trump. Conversely, Trump has a 7-point lead among male voters.
After Trump’s 2016 victory, women voters significantly contributed to the Democrats’ 2018 “blue wave.” They were further mobilized after the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and this momentum now seems to be benefiting Harris’s campaign.
Overall, Harris holds a 3-point lead over Trump in the presidential race, with 46 percent to his 43 percent among registered voters. Enthusiasm among Democrats remains high, with 70 percent expressing strong eagerness to vote, compared to 60 percent of Republicans.
Harris also has a better net favorability rating, standing at negative 1 point compared to Trump’s negative 10 points. If elected, Harris would make history as the first female president. This polling data emerges as Democrats rally support during their National Convention in Chicago.
The poll surveyed 1,271 registered voters from Aug. 17-20, with a margin of error of 3.1 points.
