Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign reported raising $310 million in July, one of the strongest fundraising months in presidential history, and entering August with $377 million cash on hand. These figures surpass the Trump campaign’s July total of nearly $139 million and $327 million cash on hand.

Both campaigns experienced an unprecedented month. Trump faced an assassination attempt and was nominated as the GOP’s presidential candidate, while President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid, endorsing Harris as his successor. The Harris campaign raised $200 million in the first week of July alone. For comparison, the Biden-Harris campaign raised $127 million in June, and Trump’s campaign raised just under $112 million.

Despite the turmoil, Trump’s highest fundraising month was in May, with $141 million raised following a guilty verdict in his hush money trial. Harris’ campaign claims July was the best grassroots fundraising month in history, with two-thirds of contributions from first-time donors and nearly 94% under $200. The campaign boasts over 3 million individual donors, rivaling Trump’s small-dollar donor base.

Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez stated, “This is a history-making haul for a candidate who will make history this November.” The seamless transition of the joint Biden-Harris committee after Biden’s exit contributed to Harris’ fundraising success. Trump’s campaign remains confident, citing continued donor momentum as they approach the final stretch to November 5th.
