Vice President Kamala Harris stated she expects former President Donald Trump to lie during their debate on Tuesday, according to a prerecorded interview released Monday on “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” Harris emphasized the importance of preparing for these “untruths,” adding, “There’s no floor for him in terms of how low he will go.”
Harris expects Trump to use personal attacks, referencing his past approaches with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. However, microphones will be muted during opponents’ speaking turns, reducing the chance for interruptions.
During a campaign stop in Pittsburgh, Harris expressed her intent to promote unity, saying, “It’s time to turn the page on the divisiveness.”
Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt responded, calling Harris a “far-left dangerous liberal” and accusing her of being the one likely to lie during the debate.
Harris’ remarks follow her recent interview with CNN where she opposed a ban on fracking, countering Trump’s portrayal of her as left-wing. Meanwhile, Trump has continued to engage with the media, including friendly outlets and traditional interviews.
