Washington, D.C. — Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again movement was “a big lie,” accusing him of abandoning ordinary supporters in favor of wealthy donors, corporations, and foreign interests during a wide-ranging interview published last week.

In a Jan. 29 interview with radio host Kim Iversen, Greene said Trump has “completely turned on his base” and argued that MAGA no longer represents the people who helped fuel his rise. Greene, who spent years campaigning alongside Trump and defending the movement from within, said her perspective as a former insider led her to conclude that MAGA’s promises were never meant to be fulfilled.

“I think people are realizing it was all a lie,” Greene said. “It was a big lie for the people.” She alleged that Trump’s administration now primarily serves large donors who contribute to his political action committees and private initiatives, including funding tied to a proposed White House ballroom and events marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Greene claimed those donors receive preferential treatment, including government contracts and pardons for themselves or associates. She also criticized Trump’s foreign policy priorities, accusing him of focusing on overseas interests while domestic issues such as health care costs go unresolved.

Her break with Trump reportedly intensified over disputes involving the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related files, contributing to her resignation from Congress. Greene also sharply criticized U.S. support for Israel, alleging that civilians in Gaza have been killed to benefit future development projects, comments that drew swift backlash.

Greene concluded that MAGA “isn’t really about America or the American people,” framing her criticism as a warning from someone who once believed in the movement.
